Sangria is the perfect pairing for a warm summer day. This delicious libation is refreshing and will help you beat the heat and discover some much needed chill time.
We find our sangrias tend to get better and better as they macerate for a number of days in the refrigerator, so this is a recipe that can be made ahead, and doesn't need to be consumed all in one day. Not that there's any problem with that.
2 bottles 1850 Wine Cellars GSM
2 cups strawberries
1/4 cup simple syrup
2 shots peach schnapps or brandy, optional
1 1 bottle dry sparkling wine
Clean and slice the fruit into bite sized chunks and put into a large pitcher.
Add remaining ingredients to the pitcher.
Let macerate several hours. (Basically just wait a while)
For serving, fill a glass 1/2 full with ice, and pour Sangria to the top of the ice, and add a spoonful of fruit.
Top with sparkling wine and serve!
